State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has taken a major step towards strengthening its 4G network by awarding contracts worth ₹819 crore to KP Green Engineering Limited. The move is part of BSNL’s ambitious plan to rapidly expand 4G services and improve connectivity across multiple regions in India.
This investment reflects BSNL’s renewed focus on modernising its telecom infrastructure and competing effectively with private telecom players.
Details of the BSNL–KP Green Engineering Deal
The total contract value of ₹819 crore has been divided across two major telecom infrastructure clusters:
- Cluster C (₹483 crore): Maharashtra and Goa
- Cluster J (₹336 crore): Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh
Under this agreement, KP Green Engineering will be responsible for the supply, installation and commissioning of ground-based telecom towers. In addition, the company will operate as an Infrastructure-as-a-Service Provider (IaaSP), managing the operation and maintenance of these sites for an initial period of five years, extendable by another five years.
Boost to BSNL’s 4G Saturation Project
The contract falls under BSNL’s 4G Saturation Project, which aims to ensure high-speed mobile connectivity even in remote and strategically important areas. By deploying new towers in difficult terrains such as hilly and border regions, BSNL is working towards bridging the digital divide and improving network coverage nationwide.
This large-scale rollout is also expected to create a strong foundation for future 5G upgrades, once spectrum and policy approvals are in place.
